If you live in the U.S. and like to watch movies on your computer, you now have another option. The YouTube Store has begun offering movies and television shows for rent in a range of prices and styles. The Bollywood presentations Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Karz go for $0.99, while Academy Award winners Precious and The Cove go for $3.99. The most expensive film on the home page is Metropia, a "digitally animated thriller" for $5.99. Rental periods are either 24 or 48 hours.
Only 52 movie titles are listed, mostly indie or otherwise offbeat films. The storefront also lists a lot of TV shows, including episodes of such hits as Deadliest Catch and Mythbusters, as well as less familiar offerings like Bikini Destinations and Know Your Meme. The offerings also include Japanimation, BBC cooking shows, the Rugby World Series, and other exotic (to U.S. viewers) choices.
