Soon BBC viewers will be able to view all of their favourite shows on YouTube, following talks between the user generated content service and BBC Worldwide.
If this deal goes ahead, and there is no reason to suspect why it shouldn’t, then for the first time users will be able to view BBC programming in full and without any time restraints placed on the clips either.
At the moment, viewers who miss an episode of their favourite show can go to the iPlayer, but the programmes only stay on there for seven days, while with the YouTube deal the programmes will remain online for all to watch permanently. On the issue of advertising, YouTube are able to sell advertising around BBC Worldwide content, but not around live shows.
