Easy YouTube uploads on tap for PS3 games

Uploading in-game videos to YouTube is about to get a lot easier if you're a PlayStation 3 gamer, that is.

YouTube just announced that Sony has adopted the site's APIs and programming tools for the PS3, which will let game developers add video uploading features to existing and upcoming PlayStation 3 games.

That'll make life a lot easier for those of us who want to show off our racing, sniping, and fragging skills online. For the most part, PS3, Xbox 360, and other console gamers have been using video capture cards or simply training camcorders on their screens to record in-game videos for sharing on the Web a do-able, if somewhat cumbersome, process.

Some games, such as "Halo 3," already let you record your in-game action, but you can't just upload said videos to the Web; instead, would-be viewers must download and watch the clips on their consoles.

The first title to get the YouTube uploading feature is Japanese PS3 game "Mainichi Issho"; no word on other upcoming YouTube-enabled games just yet.

So, Microsoft...how about some YouTube love for the Xbox 360, eh?
