LG Optimus 3D is one of those novel phones that packs solid hardware to support glasses-free 3D experience on the display. This smartphone was officially unveiled at the ongoing Mobile World Congress 2011 in Barcelona. Optimus 3D carries a dual-core 1GHz Texas Instruments OMAP4 processor and has a massive 4.3-inch display that supports 3D content. Running Android 2.2 Froyo, Optimus 3D will also have YouTube 3D app pre-installed for streaming and uploading 3D content to the video sharing service - YouTube.

The phone comes with two 5 megapixel cameras - both at the back to record 3D content. LG and YouTube have collaborated for garnering 3D content through the YouTube app. Under the slim chassis, Optimus 3D houses dual-core 1GHz Texas Instruments OMAP4 CPU with dual-channel support. For the 3D multimedia requirements, LG has added 4Gb Lower Power DD2 RAM to power the pair of 5 megapixel cameras and to display the 3D content on the mobile screen. Apart from that, the dual-memory will also let you play high frame rates involving 3D games.
Though the Optimus 3D has Android 2.2 Froyo factory installed, it would be upgradable to Android 2.3 Gingerbread when LG rolls out the update. The specifications of LG Optimus 3D are as follows:
- 1GHz Dual-Core Dual-Channel Texas Instruments OMAP4 processor
- 4.3-inch 3D WVGA (800x480)screen
- 8GB memory and 4Gb LP DDR2

- 3D: 720p H.264 SEI recording and playback

- DLNA
- HDMI 1.4
- Video formats: H.264, H.263, DivX, MKV, WMV-9, ASF, AVI, 3GP, MP4

The 4.3-inch display WVGA 800x480 touchscreen can support 3D and that too without any need of glasses. The two cameras will let you record 720p HD content in 3D or you can record full 1080p HD videos using one. Recorded 3D videos can be shared using YouTube 3D App or plug the phone via HDMI 1.4 port to HD display for watching the captured 3D content on larger screen.
LG has incorporated a unique 3D hot key for quick access to 3D cameras, Games&Apps, YouTube 3D App, and 3D Guide. Packing a 1500 mAh battery, we certainly hope that the battery life of this phone won't be an issue.
Optimus 3D will hit the European markets by early second quarter of this year and will eventually reach the other parts of the world. Considering the premium hardware and 3D power punch, anticipate the price of this smartphone to be around Rs. 40,000 approximately when it hits the Indian shores.
